Item Description
Paras has a backstory that's equal parts adorable and unsettling: a little bug carrying a pair of mushrooms on its back that, according to the Pokédex, take most of the nutrients it eats. A Bug and Grass type from the original Kanto lineup, it evolves into Parasect, where the mushroom finally takes over completely.
This card comes from Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic, the 2023 premium collection that packaged three ready-to-play decks built around Venusaur & Lugia ex, Charizard & Ho-Oh ex and Blastoise & Suicune ex. Paras appears in the Venusaur & Lugia ex deck as card 004/034 in a holofoil finish, reprinting the Paras from EX FireRed & LeafGreen with its Call for Family and Toxic Spore attacks. That original card was illustrated by Yuka Morii, the artist known for photographing clay-sculpted Pokémon.
Because Classic was sold as a premium boxed set rather than in booster packs, its foil reprints have a distinct place in a collection, bridging the game's history and its modern presentation. This Paras is a charming, slightly offbeat pick for a Grass-type binder or a Kanto Pokédex set.
