Item Description

It is Pac-Man's birthday, and instead of a party he comes home to an empty house. Toc-Man and his ghost army have kidnapped his family and friends, Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Junior, Baby Pac, Professor Pac, Chomp-Chomp and Pooka among them, and the rescue sends him on his first full 3D adventure. Pac-Man World Re-PAC, Now Production's 2022 remake for Bandai Namco, rebuilds that 1999 PlayStation original from the ground up for the PlayStation 5.

The journey runs through six themed worlds: Buccaneer Beach, Ghostly Garden, Mystery Mansion, Space Factory, the carnival chaos of Clown Prix and finally Toc-Man's Castle. Pac-Man can rev roll through obstacles, butt-bounce onto switches and enemies, and swallow power pellets to send ghosts scattering, while fruit opens gates and the letters P, A, C, M, A, N hidden in each level unlock bonus stages. The maze levels are a clever touch, turning the arcade formula into a 3D playground where the old rules of pellets and ghosts still apply.

Pac-Man World was made for the character's 20th anniversary, and it was the first time Namco built a whole adventure around him rather than another maze game. It became a fondly remembered PlayStation platformer, the kind of bright, easygoing game that lived next to Crash and Spyro on many shelves, and Re-PAC brings it back with refreshed visuals and rearranged music so it plays smoothly on modern hardware. The identity of Toc-Man, a reveal the series still enjoys, is better left for you to discover.

Re-PAC's success paved the way for the 2025 Pac-Man World 2 Re-PAC, making this the beginning of Bandai Namco's push to restore the whole 3D Pac-Man era. It is a relaxed, charming platformer with enough secrets to reward a thorough run, and a fun way to share Pac-Man's history with younger players who only know the yellow circle from the arcade.
