Item Description

It starts with a theft. Blinky, Inky, Pinky and Clyde sneak into Pac-Village, pluck the Golden Fruit from its sacred tree and accidentally free Spooky, the ghost king who was sealed beneath it centuries ago. Pac-Man sets off across Pac-Land and on to Ghost Island to win the fruit back, and Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac rebuilds that cheerful 2002 platformer from the ground up for a new generation.

The original landed on PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox, and critics at the time praised its bright level design and catchy soundtrack even as they grumbled about the camera. Re-Pac comes from Now Production, the studio behind 2022's Pac-Man World Re-Pac, and keeps the classic toolkit of Rev Roll, Butt-Bounce and Flip Kick while adding a flutter jump, a ground Flip Kick and a throwable Pac-Dot. Power Pellets still unlock metal, shrinking and ghost-eating forms, stages have been remixed, and the boss fights against the four ghosts have been updated or replaced.

The remake also gives completionists far more to chase. Every stage has extra missions such as fruit hunts and time trials that unlock costumes, collectible figurines from stages and gashapon machines fill shelves back in Pac-Village, and harder levels and bosses open up after the credits roll. The cast is fully voiced, with Martin Sherman returning as Pac-Man, and a Fairy Mode offers invincibility and skips for younger players.

Best of all, a second player can now join in as a floating Pac-Drone that zaps enemies and grabs collectibles, which turns a solo platformer into a fun parent-and-kid or couch co-op session. Reviewers rated the Switch 2 version highest of all the platforms, making it a smart way to revisit Pac-Man's brightest 3D adventure.
