Item Description

Oona, Queen of the Fae rules from above as a 5/5 flier for six, and her three hybrid mana symbols mean each one can be paid with blue or black. The real crown jewel is her activated ability: pay X plus one blue-or-black mana, choose a color, and target opponent exiles the top X cards of their library. For each exiled card of the color you named, you create a 1/1 blue and black Faerie Rogue token with flying.

That one ability does three jobs. It strips cards from an opponent's library, it builds you an air force, and it scales with every bit of mana you can throw at it in the late game. Name the color your opponent plays most and a big activation can produce a swarm of flying tokens. In Commander she leads Dimir Faerie and mill decks, and she is a strong mana sink for any blue-black list that likes to end games in the air.

Oona first appeared in Shadowmoor in 2008. This is the Secret Lair Drop printing from the International Women's Day 2020 drop, collector number 54, a borderless foil illustrated by Mila Pesic. Pesic's borderless take lets the Faerie queen spread across the whole card, a regal look for a commander who turns opponents' libraries into her own court.
