Item Description
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is an enhanced and fully reworked version of Vanillaware's acclaimed PlayStation 2 action RPG, released in 2016 by Atlus for the PlayStation Vita alongside PS3 and PS4. It is known for its stunning hand-painted art style and layered, character-driven storytelling. Set in a fantasy world drawn from Norse mythology, it follows five intertwining protagonists, Gwendolyn, Cornelius, Mercedes, Oswald and Velvet, whose fates collide amid war, prophecy and destruction. Even the subtitle comes from the myths: Lífþrasir is one of the two humans who survive Ragnarok.
The storytelling is as distinctive as the art. A young girl named Alice reads the five tales from a stack of books in her attic, and because the stories overlap, each hero's chapter casts new light on battles and betrayals already seen from another side, until the threads converge on the end of the world. Between fights, seeds planted and fed with Phozons grow into food, and later two restaurants serve prepared meals that raise a character's level and health, all painted with the mouthwatering detail Vanillaware is famous for.
The Leifthrasir edition modernizes the experience while preserving the original's artistic identity. Combat gains skill trees, character-exclusive abilities, a redesigned POW system and new defense and dodge actions, and the stages add battle arenas and vertical platforming areas. Fast-paced side-scrolling battles, deep skill customization and a Basiscape soundtrack led by Hitoshi Sakimoto, with 25 new tracks for this version, combine to make a polished and satisfying action RPG, and a Classic mode switches back to the original game's look.
Critics praised Leifthrasir as a clear improvement on the original for its smoother performance and redesigned systems, and IGN scored the Vita version 9.5 out of 10. It ranks among the finest action RPGs on the PlayStation Vita, and its lavish 2D artwork makes a fine showcase for the handheld's screen.

About the game
Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is an enhanced HD remake of Odin Sphere game for PlayStation 2. Many various adjustments and changes were made in gameplay, considering comments from people who played the original game. While this is enhanced version of the original and it's trying to stay true to it, there are new gameplay and story elements presented in this release, some of which include new boss fights, new attack moves, new background music, and new map area to explore. While the initial idea of the developers was to make just n HD remastered release, it ended up being more of a re-created game version. As such, the game offers both classic mode as well as refined mode with all new elements and new gameplay.
