Magic: The Gathering single: Norin the Wary. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Norin the Wary might be the most cowardly legend Magic has ever printed, and players love him for it. The one-mana 2/1 Human Warrior has a single instinct: the moment any player casts a spell or any creature attacks, Norin exiles himself, then slinks back onto the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step.
That joke has real deck-building teeth. Because Norin leaves and returns almost every turn, he re-triggers anything that cares about creatures entering the battlefield. Pair him with Impact Tremors or Purphoros, God of the Forge and the coward becomes a recurring damage source; add more enter-the-battlefield payoffs and the vanishing act never stops. Since his debut in Time Spiral he has become a cult-favorite Commander pick for players who enjoy building a serious engine around a gloriously silly legend.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 827, illustrated by Jarel Threat, offered in foil. Norin was the bonus card in the Showcase: Outlaws of Thunder Junction Secret Lair, printed in a borderless Wanted-poster frame, and the card is printed on both sides: one face shows Norin, the other shows him vanishing into exile with his torch dropping to the ground. It is the perfect sight gag for his rules text.
