Item Description
Few cards tell a character's story as neatly as Nissa, Vastwood Seer. She starts as a humble three-mana elf scout, a 2/2 who fetches a basic Forest from your library the moment she enters. Then the game goes long, your seventh land hits the battlefield, and the scout's spark ignites: she exiles herself and returns transformed into Nissa, Sage Animist, a full planeswalker.
That two-act structure is the hook. The front face is never a wasted card, since pulling a Forest out of your deck keeps your land drops flowing toward the flip. The back face rewards your patience: her +1 reveals your top card and puts a land onto the battlefield or a nonland card into your hand, so every activation is value. Her −2 calls up Ashaya, the Awoken World, a legendary 4/4 Elemental token, and her −7 untaps up to six lands and turns them into 6/6 Elementals. Magic Origins built its five flip-walkers around the moment each planeswalker's spark ignites, and Nissa's land-counting version is a natural payoff for green ramp and landfall decks.
This is the San Diego Comic-Con 2015 printing, collector number 189, a foil convention exclusive with alternate art by Wayne Reynolds. It was sold as part of Wizards of the Coast's exclusive SDCC 2015 planeswalker set, giving a Nissa deck a version of the card most players never see across the table and a standout for collectors of convention promos.
