Magic: The Gathering single: Nissa, Steward of Elements. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Most planeswalkers come with a fixed price. Nissa, Steward of Elements lets you name it. Her cost includes X and she enters with X loyalty, so she can hit the table early as a cheap source of card selection or wait until late in the game and arrive already threatening her ultimate. That flexibility is what makes this green-blue walker so much fun to build around: she never rots in your hand.
Her +2 scries two, smoothing out your next draws while her loyalty climbs. Her 0 is where the value lives: look at the top card of your library, and if it is a land or a creature with mana value no greater than her loyalty, put it straight onto the battlefield. The higher she climbs, the bigger the creatures she can pull in for free, and the +2 lets you line up exactly what the 0 will find. Her −6 untaps two of your lands and turns them into 5/5 flying, hasty Elementals for the turn, ten points of evasive damage from cards your opponent was ignoring. Simic ramp and landfall decks in Commander get an engine that scales with whatever mana you have to spare.
This is the San Diego Comic-Con 2017 printing, collector number 204, a foil convention exclusive with alternate art by Vincent Proce. It was sold as part of Wizards of the Coast's exclusive SDCC 2017 planeswalker set, so it gives a Nissa deck a look most tables have never seen and adds a piece of convention history to a promo collection.
