Item Description

Tatooine sand, a landspeeder racing across the desert and an X-wing run down the Death Star trench: Super Star Wars squeezed the 1977 film into a fierce Super NES action game, and Nintendo Power Volume 42 put it on the November 1992 cover. Luke, Han and Chewbacca were all playable, and the Mode 7 vehicle stages were the kind of showpiece that made Super NES owners feel like they had the movie in their hands.

It is a heavy-hitting holiday issue. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Axelay, Space MegaForce and Super Faceball 2000 share the Super NES pages, the Game Boy section covers Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, and NES players get Crash 'n the Boys and Joe & Mac. Counselors' Corner helps players through A Link to the Past and King's Quest, Classified Information turns up codes for Super Castlevania IV, Magic Sword and Bionic Commando, and the serialized Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. comics continue.

Super Star Wars kicked off a trilogy of Star Wars action games on the Super NES, and this cover marks the start of that run. It earns a spot in a Star Wars collection as easily as in a stack of 16-bit Nintendo Power.
