Item Description

Two-on-two, no fouls, and a player who catches fire after three straight buckets. Nintendo Power Volume 70 heads to the court with NBA Jam Tournament Edition for the Super NES, the upgraded version of Midway's arcade sensation. Tournament Edition expanded team rosters so you could make substitutions, added hot spots on the floor worth extra points and power-up icons that briefly boosted a player's abilities, and kept the hidden-character tradition alive. The rim-rattling dunks and the announcer's catchphrases made it a fixture of 90s sleepovers, and this feature is built to help you win those games.

The rest of the issue is a terrific slice of early-1995 Super NES. Metal Warriors brings mech-suit action, Hagane brings cybernetic ninja combat, and Speedy Gonzales: Los Gatos Bandidos, Tetris & Dr. Mario, The Incredible Hulk and Bubsy II round out the full coverage. Take 2 reviews revisit Top Gear 3000, Jurassic Park 2: The Chaos Continues and Looney Tunes B-Ball, Classified Information lists codes for Killer Instinct, and Counselors' Corner helps with Earthworm Jim, Robotrek, Brainlord and Illusion of Gaia.

Big heads, big dunks and a cast of overlooked 16-bit gems: Volume 70 belongs on the shelf of anyone who still hears "Boomshakalaka" in their sleep.
