Item Condition

This is Nintendo Power Volume 78 (Issue #78), the November 1995 issue with Mortal Kombat 3 on the cover, complete with its original fold-out poster. All pages are intact. Look over the photos for condition and details. It ships carefully packed and protected.

Item Description

Cyrax looms over a trapped victim on the cover, and the message is clear: Mortal Kombat 3 has come to the Super NES. Nintendo Power Volume 78 digs into the sequel that added a Run button, preset chain combos, Animalities and the Kombat Kode system that let two players punch in symbol codes before a match. The issue's big hook is the Nintendo Power Kode, provided exclusively to the magazine by Williams, which toughened the energy bar and stopped the clock. Back in 1995 that was the kind of secret you carried to school like a trophy.

The rest of the issue is loaded. Killer Instinct shares top billing, Spider-Man & Venom: Separation Anxiety and Boogerman get stage maps, and the Epic Center RPG section covers Secret of Evermore, the endings and end-game secrets of Chrono Trigger, an early look at Super Mario RPG and speculation about Final Fantasy VII. A special feature celebrates the NES's tenth anniversary in North America, and Pak Watch looks ahead to Mega Man X3, Wario Land for the Virtual Boy and a still-unreleased console called the Nintendo Ultra 64.

Fatalities, Chrono Trigger secrets and the dawn of the N64 in one late-1995 issue make Volume 78 an easy pick for a fighting game shelf or a 16-bit Nintendo Power run.
