Item Description

In 1996, Ken Griffey Jr. was the smoothest swing in baseball and Nintendo's go-to ballplayer, and Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run took his partnership with the Super NES to the next level. Developed by Rare, the studio behind Donkey Kong Country, the game brought that same rendered-graphics polish to the diamond, and Nintendo Power Volume 84 steps up to the plate with full coverage of it.

Baseball is only the leadoff hitter. Epic Center continues its Super Mario RPG coverage with Part 2 and looks at Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, while Olympic Summer Games, Mohawk & Headphone Jack and Super Mario All-Stars get full coverage. A behind-the-scenes feature on the making of Mission: Impossible and the Nintendo Power Awards winners add to the variety, and Counselors' Corner helps with Diddy's Kong Quest, Chrono Trigger and Breath of Fire II.

Classified Information rounds things out with codes for Mortal Kombat 3, Killer Instinct and Super Bomberman 2. With Griffey at the center and the Super NES riding a late-life hot streak, this May 1996 issue is a great pickup for sports-game collectors and anyone who remembers when The Kid ruled the cartridge aisle.
