Los Angeles, May 1996: the Electronic Entertainment Expo is buzzing, and the Nintendo 64 is only weeks away from launching in Japan. Nintendo Power Volume 86 brings readers the E3 report, the show where the industry got a good look at Nintendo's new machine, with Super Mario 64 leading the charge and Pilotwings 64 getting a feature of its own.

The issue is a fascinating mix of past and future.
