Item Description

Few magazine issues capture a turning point as clearly as Nintendo Power Volume 66. In November 1994, Rare's Donkey Kong Country hit the Super NES with pre-rendered graphics that stunned players, and this issue was there with the full review: DK and Diddy tag-teaming through jungle canopies, mine-cart runs, Rambi the rhino, hidden bonus barrels and King K. Rool's Kremling crew waiting at the end.

The rest of the lineup is just as strong. Earthworm Jim makes his splashy debut, Konami's rocket-powered possum Sparkster gets his own coverage, and Final Fantasy III earns serious space. Game Boy players get Contra: The Alien Wars, Classified Information serves up tricks for Mortal Kombat II, Super Street Fighter II and Stunt Race FX, and Counselors' Corner helps readers through Breath of Fire and Lufia and the Fortress of Doom. The magazine even lists the upcoming Nintendo Ultra 64 among its systems.

Read cover to cover, it captures the Super NES at the absolute peak of its powers, with the console war in full swing and Donkey Kong reclaiming the spotlight after years in Mario's shadow.
