Item Description

Dixie Kong's helicopter ponytail turned her into an instant star, and Nintendo Power Volume 79 caught her right at her debut. This December 1995 issue gives full coverage to Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Rare's swashbuckling sequel in which Diddy and Dixie sail to Crocodile Isle to rescue a kidnapped Donkey Kong from Kaptain K. Rool. Pirate ships, bramble mazes, roller-coaster rides and hidden Kremkoins all get the Nintendo Power treatment, set against the pre-rendered visuals that made the series look like nothing else on the Super NES.

Holiday 1995 was a busy season, and the rest of the issue shows it. Virtual Boy owners get a look at Wario Land, WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game and Waterworld get full coverage, and Epic Center spends time with Secret of Evermore. Classified Information has tricks for Mega Man 7 and Chrono Trigger, while Counselors' Corner tackles Yoshi's Island and Doom.

DKC2 is the game many players consider the high point of the trilogy, with David Wise's moody soundtrack and a level of challenge that rewarded every secret. Having its launch-month strategy issue on the shelf is a wonderful way to celebrate it.
