This is Nintendo Power Volume 25 (June 1991), the Battletoads issue, complete with its original fold-out poster. All pages are intact, with minor edge and spine wear. Look over the photos for condition and details. It ships carefully packed and protected.

Item Description

Anyone who reached the Turbo Tunnel on the NES remembers the walls arriving faster than their reflexes could manage. Nintendo Power Volume 25 put Battletoads on its cover in June 1991, just as Rash, Zitz and Pimple were crashing onto store shelves, and its strategy feature landed exactly when players needed the help.

Rare’s game threw brawling, rope descents, speeder-bike runs and races into one punishing campaign against the Dark Queen, and its cartoon swagger, with fists and boots that balloon to absurd size for finishing blows, looks fantastic in the magazine’s full-color spreads.

The rest of the issue shows the NES in its busy prime. NES Open Tournament Golf and the oddball Day Dreamin’ Davey get features of their own, the Game Boy section covers The Hunt for Red October and Super R.C. Pro-Am, and Counselor’s Corner tackles Dragon Warrior II and The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants. Pak Watch is a time capsule in itself, teasing Darkwing Duck, Mega Man 4, Ninja Gaiden III and Tecmo Super Bowl long before they arrived.

Battletoads went on to win seven times at Nintendo Power’s 1991 Nester Awards, so this is where that love affair started. It makes a perfect companion to a Battletoads cartridge, and a reminder of how loudly the magazine cheered for the toads that summer.
