Item Description
Ten cards, every attack. Nemesis of Reason is a five-mana blue-black Leviathan Horror with a 3/7 body and one job: whenever it attacks, defending player mills ten cards. Two or three swings can carve a 60-card library down to almost nothing, and seven toughness means it survives most combats to keep doing it.
Mill decks know it as a top-end finisher, and in Commander it doubles as a graveyard enabler aimed at your opponents, a strong fit for Dimir decks that cast or reanimate creatures from other players' graveyards. It first appeared in Alara Reborn, and its simple, brutal design hasn't lost any of its menace.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 1302, illustrated by Ryan Alexander Lee, in foil. Its flavor text is perfectly unsettling: “To challenge a monster beyond perception is to challenge perception itself.”
