Visual Concepts' annual simulation is still the heavyweight of basketball games, and this edition runs on the newer engine tier, with ProPLAY animation technology built from real NBA footage driving how players move, cut and finish at the rim.

The mode list is deep. MyCAREER follows a created player through a story-driven climb, MyTEAM is the card-collecting team builder, and The W gives the WNBA its own career path. The headline for Nintendo fans is MyNBA Eras, which lets you run the league from a choice of historical starting points such as the Magic vs. Bird era, a first on a Nintendo console. Play Now covers quick games and the street-style Blacktop for anyone who just wants to grab a controller.

Couch play is where a Switch 2 sports game earns its keep, and 2K26 handles local head-to-head games on one system, with improved hair, crowd and lighting detail over the original Switch versions and handheld performance close to what you see on the TV.
