Item Description
Five mana, three choices, and you can pick the same one more than once. Mystic Confluence lets you mix and match counter target spell unless its controller pays three, return target creature to its owner's hand, and draw a card. That flexibility is the whole appeal: hold it up as a counterspell, and if nobody casts anything worth stopping, fire it off at the end of an opponent's turn to draw three cards.
The combinations are where it shines. Choose the counter mode three times on one spell and its controller has to pay nine extra mana to keep it; split it into a tax, a bounce and a card to blunt an attack and refill your hand; or send three different attackers back to hand at once. Because it is an instant, blue control and spellslinger Commander decks can sit on it without wasting a turn.
This is the Marvel Universe printing, collector number 12, a borderless full-art mythic in non-foil, with artwork by Mike Zeck. Zeck is the comic artist behind the landmark 1984 Secret Wars series and Kraven's Last Hunt, and this source-material card spreads classic Marvel comic art across the whole face of a blue Commander staple.
