A storm rolls across the Windward Plains, the sky turns violent, and the herds you were stalking scatter as something far bigger arrives with the lightning. Monster Hunter Wilds is built around moments like that. Capcom's 2025 entry sends hunters into the Forbidden Lands, a region whose weather and ecosystems swing between a harsh Inclemency, an abundant Plenty and a quiet Fallow, and the creatures that live there shift right along with them.

The hunt itself has never flowed so smoothly. Hunters ride Seikret, birdlike mounts that carry you across the map and let you use items on the move, and you can now bring two weapons into the field and switch between them mid-hunt. Focus Mode lets you aim attacks precisely, and repeated hits open wounds on a monster that can be exploited with devastating Focus Strikes. All fourteen weapon types return, from the nimble Dual Blades to the massive Great Sword, each with new tricks built around this system.

Wilds also puts more weight on story than earlier entries. Your Hunter speaks, works alongside handler Alma and the smith Gemma, and sets out with a young survivor named Nata to track the White Wraith, the mysterious monster later known as Arkveld. Seamless transitions between camp, exploration and combat mean you rarely stare at a loading screen, and wide, layered regions such as the Scarlet Forest and the Oilwell Basin teem with endemic life.

The response was enormous: Wilds sold more than eight million copies in its first three days, the fastest launch in Capcom's history. On PlayStation 5 it shows what the series looks like at full scale, with Rey Dau's crackling lightning, the comically menacing Chatacabra and the shadowy Arkveld heading a cast of beasts worth learning inside and out, solo or in four-hunter co-op. This is the entry where Monster Hunter's world finally feels as alive as its monsters.
