The photos are our own, taken from our stock of this game — look them over for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
Item Description
Nothing in Monster Hunter quite matches the first time you dive beneath the surface of the Deserted Island and realize the fight is now in three dimensions. Underwater hunting arrived with Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate took that foundation and expanded it into one of the most content-packed games on the 3DS, reaching Western players in 2013.
The rhythm is the classic loop at its most addictive. You take a quest in Moga Village, track a creature across the map, study how it moves and when it tires, then carve materials from it to forge stronger weapons and armor for the next, tougher target. Combat is deliberate and weighty, with no handholding: every swing commits you, and learning a monster's tells is the whole game. Ultimate expands Tri's arsenal to twelve weapon types, bringing back favorites like the Dual Blades, Bow, Gunlance and Hunting Horn alongside the Switch Axe that Tri introduced, so picking up a new weapon feels like starting a new game.
The monster roster is where this edition earns its name. The volcanic, explosive Brachydios headlines the new arrivals, the sea wyvern Lagiacrus still rules the waters, and the colossal leviathan Ceadeus waits in the deep alongside dozens of returning beasts and a large set of high-level quests for veterans. The Shakalaka companions Cha-Cha and Kayamba fight at your side on solo hunts, and the touch screen keeps maps, items and books close at hand. Multiplayer hunts on the 3DS use local wireless, which made it a table-side favorite for groups of friends gathering their 3DS systems to take down a monster together.
For many Western players, 3 Ultimate is the game that turned Monster Hunter from a cult import into a way of life, and alongside Tri it is the only entry built around underwater combat. For hunters who want to see where the modern series found its footing, this is the portable hunt to start with.
