Item Description
Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker turns every hit you take into a tax. Whenever a source an opponent controls deals damage to you, that player sacrifices a permanent of their choice. It triggers once for each source, so a wide attack or a burn spell plus a creature swing can cost an opponent several permanents in a single turn.
That makes her a natural fit for pillow-fort and group-hug Commander decks, or as a deterrent in any white deck that wants to be left alone. Opponents choose what they sacrifice, so expect tokens and spare lands to go first, but every attack still chips away at their board, and in a multiplayer game the table quickly learns to point its creatures somewhere else. A four-mana 2/2 legend is easy to slot into a white deck that values attrition over speed.
Michiko first appeared in Saviors of Kamigawa as the daughter of Daimyo Konda, whose theft from the spirit world set off the Kami War. This is the Secret Lair Drop printing from the Kamigawa Ink drop, collector number 259, a borderless non-foil illustrated by JungShan. Its flavor text, "Michiko could not sit idly by while Kamigawa suffered for her father's actions," sums up her story in one line.
