Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
Club 30 is crawling with gangsters, children have been kidnapped all over the city, and the man coming to their rescue fights back with close-range strikes, a thrown fedora and dance magic. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker on the Master System loosely follows Jackson's 1988 film, sending the King of Pop after the criminal mastermind Mr. Big, and it is every bit as stylish and strange as that premise suggests.
Six rounds of three levels each carry Michael through Club 30, a parking garage, a graveyard, spider-infested caves and Mr. Big's high-tech hideout, and the goal in each is to find the hidden children, many of them tucked behind doors and windows you have to search. The fighting is up close, against thugs with guns and knives, bat-throwing garage gangs and leaping zombies. Find the orange suit and Michael's attacks give way to a long-range hat throw, while his dance magic darkens the screen and wipes out every enemy in view.
This is not a cut-down copy of the Genesis game. The Master System version takes the same premise in its own direction, adding sequences where Michael transforms into a car or a plane, something the Genesis release does not have, and building to a two-phase showdown against Mr. Big's giant robot and battle plane. Reviewers have called it a distinct version rather than a watered-down port, and it gives players who know the 16-bit game plenty that feels new.
Then there is the music. The 8-bit soundtrack runs through "Smooth Criminal," "Beat It," "Another Part of Me," "Billie Jean" and "Bad," rebuilt for the Master System's sound chip, and hearing those hooks come out of Sega's little console is a thrill all its own. Few licensed games on the system carry this much personality, and it captures the moment when the biggest pop star on the planet teamed up with Sega.
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker involves the player controlling the pop star in a quest to save all the kids that have been kidnapped by Mr. Big. The gameplay is focused on finding children, who are scattered throughout the levels, some behind objects such as doors. The game's levels and music were borrowed from the 1988 Michael Jackson film "Moonwalker" (though many of the music tracks were taken from Jackson's Thriller album as well) and the player has the ability to destroy enemies by making them dance.
