Item Description
Christopher Rush painted Black Lotus for Magic's Alpha set, and he also lent his brush to Pokémon, including this Mewtwo. That crossover alone makes the card a conversation piece for collectors who love both games, and his take on the psychic clone has a painterly, otherworldly quality that sets it apart from the more familiar early Mewtwo art.
Legendary Collection arrived in 2002 as a celebration of the Wizards of the Coast era, reprinting favorites from Base Set, Jungle, Fossil and Team Rocket, and it is best remembered for its reverse-holo cards with their distinctive fireworks-style foil. This listing is the regular non-foil version, which keeps the focus squarely on Rush's artwork.
In play, Mewtwo is a 60-HP Basic Psychic Pokémon built for control. Energy Control costs one Psychic Energy and, on a heads, moves a basic Energy card from one of your opponent's Pokémon to another of their Pokémon, disrupting their plans. Telekinesis does 30 damage to any one of your opponent's Pokémon, ignoring Weakness and Resistance, so it can pick off a weakened Benched threat.
