Item Description
Mewtwo was the legend waiting at the end of the original Kanto journey, hidden deep in Cerulean Cave after you had already become Champion, and it has carried that aura of untouchable power through every era of the TCG. This Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promo brings it back for the Pokémon 151 celebration; it was distributed in the Pokémon 151 Ultra-Premium Collection in 2023.
On the table, it is a Basic Pokémon with 130 HP and two attacks that reward reading your opponent. Reflective Barrier does 20 damage and sets a trap that turns attack damage dealt to Mewtwo back onto the attacker as damage counters, even if Mewtwo is Knocked Out. Psyslash hits for 130 at the cost of discarding two Energy from Mewtwo, a big swing for the turn you need a Pokémon off the board right now.
This is the SV: Scarlet & Violet Promo Cards printing, collector number 052, illustrated by Bun Toujo, in holofoil. Tied to the 151 celebration of the original Kanto Pokédex, it is a natural fit beside a Pokémon 151 master set or in a collection of the Genetic Pokémon across every era.
