Item Description

Special Illustration Rares exist to turn a playable card into a piece of art, and Meowth ex from Perfect Order gets the full treatment here. Natsumi Yoshida's illustration fills the whole card, giving the scrappy cat far more room than a standard frame allows. Meowth's charm has carried it from the earliest Kanto days to now, helped along by the talking Team Rocket Meowth of the anime, and a showpiece version like this is what binder collectors chase.

It plays well too. Put Meowth ex onto your Bench from your hand and its Last-Ditch Catch Ability searches your deck for a Supporter card. Later, Tuck Tail deals 60 damage for three Colorless Energy and returns Meowth with all its attached cards to your hand, so you can bench it again on a later turn and search for another Supporter. That makes a 170-HP Basic into a repeatable tutor, with the usual ex trade-off of two Prize cards if it is Knocked Out.

This is the Perfect Order (ME03) printing, collector number 121/088, a holofoil Special Illustration Rare illustrated by Natsumi Yoshida. Numbered past the main set, it is the art-forward counterpart to the set's Double Rare Meowth ex.
