Item Description

Megatron doesn't just attack; he transforms, and this card captures both of the Decepticon leader's modes with Magic's double-faced convert design. Megatron, Tyrant is a six-mana red, white and black legendary Robot, a 7/5 that shuts down combat tricks outright, because your opponents can't cast spells during combat. At the beginning of each of your postcombat main phases you may convert him, and if you do, you add one colorless mana for each 1 life your opponents lost that turn. A big attack literally pays for what you cast next.

Flipped, he becomes Megatron, Destructive Force, a 4/5 Vehicle with living metal, so he is a creature during your turn without needing to be crewed. Whenever he attacks, you may sacrifice another artifact to have him deal damage equal to that artifact's mana value to target creature. Excess damage hits that creature's controller instead and converts Megatron back to robot form. You can also cast him straight into Vehicle mode for four mana with More Than Meets the Eye. For a Mardu artifact Commander deck, that is a leader who turns spare artifacts into removal and combat damage into mana.

This is the Transformers printing, collector number 26, the borderless Shattered Glass version illustrated by Volta Creation, in non-foil. The Transformers cards arrived alongside The Brothers' War in 2022, and this alternate treatment sets Megatron apart from the standard-frame card.
