Item Description
Blightsteel Colossus ends games about as abruptly as any card Magic has printed, so casting it as Megatron makes perfect sense. In the Secret Lair Transformers: Optimus Prime vs. Megatron drop, the Decepticon leader takes over Blightsteel's rules, Optimus Prime stands in for its counterpart Darksteel Colossus and the AllSpark appears as Doubling Cube, turning a famous pair of metal giants into a robot rivalry.
The card itself is twelve generic mana for an 11/11 artifact creature with trample, infect and indestructible. If it would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, it is revealed and shuffled back into its owner's library instead. Infect means its damage to players arrives as poison counters, and ten of those end the game, so one unblocked attack, or a trampling swing over a small blocker, is usually lethal. Nobody plans to pay twelve: the fun is cheating it into play with Tinker, Sneak Attack and other put-it-onto-the-battlefield effects, the route that made Tinker into Blightsteel a notorious Vintage turn. Destroy effects bounce off it, so opponents need exile, bounce or sacrifice to deal with it, which keeps it a terrifying threat in artifact-heavy Commander decks.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing named Megatron, from the Transformers: Optimus Prime vs. Megatron drop released in late 2022, offered here in foil.
