Item Description
Zero's solo career turned out to be the hardest, darkest and most stylish stretch of the whole Mega Man timeline, and the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection gathers all of it in one place. Developed by Inti Creates for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS between 2002 and 2007, these six games carried the series into a bleak future where the line between hero and machine had blurred, and Capcom's 2020 collection brings Mega Man Zero 1 through 4, Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent to Xbox One.
The Zero quartet opens with the legendary Reploid awakened by Ciel, a young scientist leading a Resistance under siege by Neo Arcadia and a mysterious copy of X. What follows is relentless, precision action: the Z-Saber's slashes, the Buster Shot, and sub-weapons that change from game to game, from the Chain Rod and Shield Boomerang to the Recoil Rod, plus Cyber-elves that grant help at the cost of your mission score. Every stage ends with a rank, and earning top marks unlocks EX skills from the bosses, which is exactly the kind of mastery loop that keeps speedrunners and perfectionists coming back. Across four games the story builds toward Omega and the villainous Dr. Weil, one of the darkest arcs Capcom ever put in a Mega Man game.
The ZX games jump centuries ahead. In Mega Man ZX you play as Vent or Aile, couriers who bond with living Biometals and Mega Merge into armored forms inspired by heroes of the past, each with its own abilities for exploring a connected world. ZX Advent follows Grey or Ashe, whose power to transform into defeated bosses turns every victory into a new way to move and fight.
The collection is built for both veterans and newcomers. A save assist option eases the classic Zero difficulty, the DS games' two screens are adapted for a single display, and a gallery of artwork and music celebrates the series. It also adds Z Chaser, a new mode created for this collection in which players race through stages for the best time. This is the convenient way to experience a run of handheld-only games on a big screen, and the gateway to the most challenging corner of the Blue Bomber's legacy.
