The Star Force trilogy goes out swinging. Mega Man Star Force 3 sends Geo Stelar and his alien partner Omega-Xis up against Dealer, a crime syndicate dressed in playing-card motifs and run by Mr. King, a man the public knows as a generous philanthropist. Dealer's plan is magnificently villainous: seize control of Meteor G, a vast mass of Noise on a collision course with Earth, and hold the entire planet hostage. Capcom released it in Japan in late 2008, and North American players got it in 2009.

Battles keep the series' quick, card-driven formula. Mega Man fights from his side of a three-by-five grid, sliding between lanes to dodge while drawing Battle Cards from his folder to slash, shoot and summon. Star Force 3 adds Noise, a meter that rises depending on how you finish off enemies. Push it high enough and Geo shifts into Noise Change forms named for foes like Libra, Cancer and Gemini, each with new abilities; push it to 200 percent and he can Finalize into a super form for three turns, a risk-and-reward layer that changes how you approach every encounter.

This is the Black Ace version, and its Finalize form is built for speed and precision, with abilities and a card library that favor quick movement and accurate strikes. Black Ace also has its own exclusive Battle Cards and favors a different set of Noise forms than Red Joker, so the same encounters reward a different kind of build. The story is identical in both versions, so Black Ace gives you the complete finale; the difference is in how you like to fight.

Star Force was Capcom's successor to Battle Network, swapping the internet for the EM Wave World and putting friendship at the center through its Brother Band system. This third game closes Geo's story with Ace of the Satella Police, Bud Bison, Sonia Strumm and his old rival Solo all drawn into the fight. No fourth game followed, so this is where the series' story ends, and the DS original is where that ending first played out, on the two screens it was designed for.

Players will encounter enemies in the virtual Wave World and battle them on three-by-five battle grids with their Battle Card deck. Mega Man Star Force 3 also adds a new feature called "Rezon," which allow players to fill in profiles about battles and their team name/symbol.
