Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

Somewhere on the Net, a crime syndicate called Gospel is spreading NetCrime faster than anyone can contain it, and it falls to a schoolboy and his digital partner to stop it. Mega Man Battle Network 2 continues the story of Lan Hikari and MegaMan.EXE, and it does what great sequels do: it keeps a brilliant battle system intact and builds a bigger, smarter game around it.

That battle system is still a joy. Fights play out in real time on a grid, MegaMan on his side of the field and viruses on theirs, and each time the Custom Gauge fills you choose Battle Chips from a randomized hand before diving back into the action. Matching chip codes rewards building a folder that flows, and this sequel adds wildcard asterisk codes, a chip library numbered past 260 and up to three alternate folders to swap between, so there is always another strategy to try.

The headline addition is the Style system. In place of the first game's armor, MegaMan takes on Styles shaped by how you fight, such as Guts, Custom, Team and Shield, plus the hidden Hub Style, each paired with an element like Heat, Aqua, Elec or Wood. He can hold two at a time and swap between them outside battle, so your habits reshape your Navi. SubChips for use outside of combat, NetSquares where Navis gather to shop and swap information, and the end of automatic healing between fights make the Net feel larger and more dangerous than before.

Lan's promotion to official NetBattler sends him around the world, in cyberspace and in real life, and the trail leads to Gospel's mysterious leader and a monstrous SuperNavi copied from Bass.EXE. One boss, GateMan, was even designed by a fan who won a Capcom contest. Critics agreed it improved on the original across the board, and it holds one of the strongest review averages in the series. This is the entry where Battle Network found its formula, and the natural next step for anyone who finished the first game.
