Item Description

Gengar's grin has haunted Pokémon players since the Game Boy days, and its Mega Evolution, first seen in Pokémon X and Y, adds a third eye and an even wider smile. This Mega Gengar ex turns that shadowy trickery into a card that quietly bends the Prize race in your favor.

Its Ability, Shadowy Concealment, means that whenever one of your Darkness Pokémon is Knocked Out by damage from an attack by your opponent's Pokémon ex, that player takes one fewer Prize card (the effect doesn't stack with extra copies). In a format full of big ex attackers, that can turn a two-Prize knockout into a one-Prize knockout and buy you a crucial extra turn. Mega Gengar ex counts too: it is a Darkness Pokémon, so if an opposing Pokémon ex knocks it out with an attack, your opponent takes two Prizes instead of the usual three for a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex. Then there is Void Gale: two Darkness Energy for 230 damage, after which you move an Energy from Mega Gengar ex to one of your Benched Pokémon so your next attacker is already powering up. It is a Stage 2 Darkness Pokémon ex with 350 HP that evolves from Haunter.

This is the Phantasmal Flames (ME02) printing, collector number 056/094, a Double Rare illustrated by 5ban Graphics, in holofoil. It is the main-set version of the card, the one built to be sleeved up and played.
