Complete in box: the UMD, the manual and the original case, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Every game is tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
Sir Daniel Fortesque is the most celebrated hero Gallowmere ever had, and his legend is a lie. The story goes that he fell gloriously leading the charge against the sorcerer Zarok. The truth is that he took an arrow to the eye in the opening volley and never saw the battle at all. So when Zarok returns a century later and raises the dead, Dan staggers out of his crypt too, a jawless skeleton handed one unlikely chance to earn the reputation he never deserved. MediEvil: Resurrection brings that wonderfully British, gallows-humor premise to the PSP.
The game is a third-person hack-and-slash adventure through graveyards, haunted villages and twisted countryside, packed with shambling enemies, puzzles and secrets. Dan builds up an arsenal of swords, crossbows and stranger weapons as he goes, and the chalices earned along the way decide whether he can enter the Hall of Heroes, where the legendary warriors who actually did their jobs reluctantly lend a hand. It is the kind of game where the mood does as much work as the combat, with every level dressed in spooky, storybook menace.
Resurrection is a reimagining, not a straight port of the 1998 PlayStation original. SCE Cambridge Studio reworked levels and characters, cut some old stages, added new ones and wrote a fresh subplot around the Anubis Stone. The tone shifts toward a more comic, cartoon-like style, every cutscene is new, and the soundtrack is fully orchestrated. Tom Baker narrates and voices the Grim Reaper, and his performance alone is reason enough to listen to every line of dialogue.
There is real lineage here too. SCE Cambridge grew out of Millennium Interactive, the team that created the original MediEvil, so this is the series being reinvented by its own home studio. It is also Sir Dan's only portable adventure, arriving between the original PlayStation games and the 2019 PS4 remake. Longtime fans will spot the differences immediately, which is part of the fun, and newcomers get a funny, good-looking introduction to a skeleton knight still trying to live up to his own legend.
MediEvil: Resurrection is a 2005 action-adventure game for the PlayStation Portable and is the third installment in the MediEvil video-game series. It is a reimagining of the first installment in the series, MediEvil, with many alterations to the original structure and content, such as the addition of the "Anubis Stone" sub-plot which never appeared in the original. Many things such as level design and characters were changed drastically, and some levels from the original were removed altogether. New levels and characters were introduced, the cutscenes are completely original, and the game was given a much more comical, cartoon-like style as opposed to the Gothic horror-comedy of the original. The soundtrack is completely orchestrated, and half of the themes from the original were removed while new themes were created to fit with the new levels. Unlike the original, there is no alternate ending; Dan still goes to the Hall of Heroes regardless of whether he collects all of the chalices. The game also features a variety of voice talent, including Tom Baker as the narrator and the Grim Reaper.
