Game only: the cartridge in a protective holder, no box or manual. The photos are our own, taken from our stock of this game — look them over for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
The best idea in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is wonderfully simple: whenever Luigi dozes off, he opens a door into his own imagination. Mario dives into that Dream World alongside Dreamy Luigi, a fearless, endlessly multiplying version of his brother, and the game shifts from a 3D island adventure into side-scrolling dreamscapes where Luigi's subconscious bends the rules. Poke the sleeping Luigi on the touch screen, tug his mustache or make him sneeze, and the dream around Mario reacts, a running gag the game keeps finding fresh uses for.
The fourth original entry in AlphaDream's RPG series sends the brothers to Pi'illo Island, a resort getaway with a dark secret. Its ancient Pi'illo people have been petrified by the bat-king Antasma, Princess Peach is snatched away, and the excitable Prince Dreambert needs help freeing his kingdom. Bowser, naturally, makes an alliance of convenience with the villain. The island gives the adventure plenty of variety, from the bustling port of Wakeport to Mushrise Park, Driftwood Shore, the snowy Mount Pajamaja and Somnom Woods.
Combat is where the series shines, and Dream Team gives it more toys than ever. Every attack and dodge is a timing test, so a well-read battle can be won without taking a hit, while Bros. Attacks and, in the Dream World, Luiginary Attacks pile dozens of Luigis into giant balls and towers. The headline moments are the giant battles, when a colossal Dreamy Luigi squares off against an equally enormous foe and you turn the 3DS on its side to fight with the stylus. A badge system adds strategy for those who want it, and Yoko Shimomura's score keeps the whole trip bright and bouncy.
Dream Team is among the biggest Mario & Luigi adventures, sharply written and stuffed with the slapstick character animation that defines the series, and Luigi has rarely been this much the star of his own story. Few RPGs on the 3DS are this funny, this fast or this willing to let a sleeping plumber's imagination run wild.
Mario and Luigi embark on the adventure of their dreams in a hilarious action RPG that combines the resort world of Pi’illo Island with the wild landscapes of Luigi’s imagination, where anything can happen. Meet a host of hilarious characters as you strive to rescue Princess Peach and help Prince Dreambert free his petrified Pi’illo people from the bat-king Antasma’s curse.
