Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Wheel of Fortune is a Reserved List card from Magic's very first set, and Magus of the Wheel hands you that same table-flipping effect on a three-mana 3/3. When the moment is right, pay one generic and one red, tap it and sacrifice it: every player discards their hand and draws seven fresh cards.
The trick is choosing that moment. An aggressive red deck that has dumped its whole hand onto the battlefield gets a full refill, while a control player sitting on answers loses them all. In Commander, "wheel" decks build around exactly this swing, pairing it with cards that reward discarding, punish opponents for drawing, or simply turn seven new cards into an explosive turn. Until you need it, the Magus is a perfectly reasonable 3/3 that attacks and blocks.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing from the Wizards of the Street drop, collector number 1166, a borderless foil illustrated by Martin Ontiveros. Ontiveros brings his offbeat style to the card, and the flavor text plays along like a carnival barker hyping a prize wheel full of very strange rewards.
