Item Description

Magneton has been a favorite since the earliest days of the franchise, and its Fossil holo captures what made collecting in 1999 so thrilling: three magnetic units fused into one buzzing Lightning Pokémon, drawn by Ken Sugimori in the bold, clean style of first-generation art, with the holo shimmer that made kids stop mid-pack and tilt the card toward the light.

It plays with real fireworks. Sonicboom does 20 damage for two Energy and ignores Weakness and Resistance, while Selfdestruct, costing four Lightning Energy, slams the Defending Pokémon for 100, does 20 damage to every Benched Pokémon on both sides, and deals 100 damage to Magneton itself. That all-or-nothing explosion was one of the most dramatic attacks of the original era and a memorable gamble in classic play.

Fossil was the third English expansion, following Base Set and Jungle, and this is the holo Magneton, 11/62, illustrated by Ken Sugimori. A great piece for Wizards-era binders and anyone completing the Fossil holo set.
