Item Description
Two of the warmest role-playing games of the 1990s come back together in the Lunar Remastered Collection. Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, the 1996 remake of Game Arts' Sega CD original, and its 1998 follow-up Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete were the versions many Western players met on the PlayStation, and for a generation of RPG fans they defined what a heartfelt, character-first adventure could be. This 2025 remaster, developed by Ashibi and published by GungHo, brings both to the Xbox One with a careful touch.
Silver Star Story follows Alex, a boy from the village of Burg who dreams of becoming a Dragonmaster like his hero Dyne. With his childhood friend Luna and Nall, a mischievous winged creature with a sharp tongue, he sets out on a journey that pits him against Ghaleon, the Magic Emperor, one of the great villains of the era. The story is simple on paper, but its characters, humor and romance have kept players coming back for decades.
Eternal Blue is set a thousand years later. Hiro, a young adventurer, meets Lucia, a mysterious girl from the Blue Star on a mission she barely understands, and their journey widens the world of Lunar into a bigger, more emotional story with the dark god Zophar at its center. Both games are built around traditional turn-based battles where positioning on the field matters, and both are punctuated by animated anime cut scenes that were a major draw in their day.
The remaster respects that history. You can switch between updated Remastered visuals and the original Classic look, play in widescreen, and watch those cut scenes upscaled to HD. Newly recorded English voice tracks sit alongside the original Japanese voices, battle animations can be sped up, and composer Noriyuki Iwadare's music returns enhanced, along with a new song he wrote for the collection, "Looking up at Terra." Reviews were generally favorable, and it is the easiest way to experience both Lunar classics on a modern console, side by side and complete.
