This is a single foil card from the Diamond and Pearl Promos set. The card shows typical signs of handling consistent with a promo single of this era — expect some light wear to edges, corners, or surface depending on how it was stored or used. The foil treatment can show minor scuffing or cloudiness, as is common with cards of this age and type. Please refer to the provided photos for the exact details of the item's condition.
Item Description
Lucario LV.X is one of the most coveted promo cards to come out of the Diamond and Pearl era of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Released as part of the Diamond and Pearl Promos — a supplemental run of cards distributed through special events, products, and retail promotions during the mid-to-late 2000s — DP12 carries the kind of pedigree that makes collectors and competitive historians alike take notice. LV.X cards were the signature mechanic of the Diamond and Pearl series, functioning as powerful overlays that leveled up your existing Active Pokemon rather than evolving from them. The result was a card that felt genuinely special to play, stacking new attacks and Poke-Powers onto an already battle-ready Lucario.
Lucario itself was everywhere during this era, and for good reason. The Steel and Fighting type Pokemon had exploded in popularity thanks to its starring role in the animated film Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, cementing it as a fan favorite almost instantly. On the competitive side of the TCG, Lucario LV.X brought real power to the table. Its Stance Poke-Power offered a layer of protection that savvy players could exploit, and the card quickly became a sought-after piece of any Fighting-type strategy during the Diamond and Pearl format.
The artwork on DP12 leans into everything that made Lucario such a visual standout — the sharp angles of its jackal-like silhouette, the blue and black steel-toned coloring, and the unmistakable aura spheres emanating from its hands. On a foil promo, that artwork shimmers with a treatment that gives it a premium quality distinct from the booster-pack versions of the card. Holding this one in your hands, it's easy to see why the LV.X line developed such a loyal collecting following even years after the Diamond and Pearl format wrapped up.
Promo cards from the DP series occupy an interesting corner of TCG history. They weren't pulled from packs in the traditional sense — many were tied to specific releases, events, or bundles — which means complete promo runs from this period are harder to assemble than a standard set. That scarcity, combined with the enduring popularity of Lucario as a franchise character, makes DP12 a card that holds its appeal across multiple types of collectors.
Whether you're a Diamond and Pearl completionist hunting down every promo from the era, a Lucario fan building a dedicated binder around the character, or a player with a soft spot for the LV.X mechanic, this card earns its place in any serious collection.
