Item Description
Lotus Bloom is Time Spiral's wink at the most famous artifact in Magic. Black Lotus gave you three mana of one color for nothing; Lotus Bloom offers the same burst, but you have to wait for it. It has no mana cost at all, so the only way to play it is suspend: exile it from your hand for zero with three time counters, and three upkeeps later it arrives on the battlefield, ready to be tapped and sacrificed for three mana of any one color.
That delay is the whole puzzle, and it is a fun one. Suspend it on turn one and you can plan a turn-four explosion around it, slamming a six-drop well ahead of schedule or fueling a big combo turn. Once it lands it also counts as a free artifact for decks that care about artifact counts, and because suspend costs nothing you can tuck it away on the same turn you spend all your mana on something else. Combo players have prized it for years for exactly that kind of patient setup.
This is The List printing, collector number TSP-259, which reprints the Time Spiral original with Mark Zug's artwork, in non-foil. Cards from The List carry a small planeswalker symbol in the lower-left corner that marks them as part of that reprint series.
