Item Description
For San Diego Comic-Con 2014, Wizards handed six Magic 2015 planeswalkers to comic artist Jae Lee and released them in a black-on-black art style, the set famously packaged with a NERF version of Garruk's axe. His Liliana Vess is all shadow and silhouette, the kind of convention-exclusive treatment that turns a playable card into a conversation piece.
Underneath that art is the original planeswalker necromancer. Liliana Vess starts at five loyalty, and her +1 makes a target player discard a card each turn. Her -2 searches your library for any card and puts it on top, so she can set up your next draw with whatever the game needs. Her -8 brings every creature card from every graveyard onto the battlefield under your control, a dramatic swing in Commander games where graveyards fill up fast.
This is the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 promo printing, collector number 103, a foil illustrated by Jae Lee.
