Item Description
One red mana, three damage, any target, instant speed. Lightning Bolt has been doing exactly that since Alpha in 1993, and it is still the yardstick every red burn spell gets measured against. It kills an early creature, finishes off a planeswalker, or points at an opponent for the last few points of life, and it costs so little that holding it up barely changes your turn.
Double Masters 2022 gave the card a borderless treatment illustrated by Chuck Lukacs, letting the art run to the very edge of the card so the spell looks as explosive as it plays. The flavor text is a wry nod to Magic's Dominarian history: "My, how shocking," courtesy of Barrin, the Tolarian archmage. This is the Double Masters 2022 borderless printing, collector number 361, in non-foil.
In Commander it is a cheap, flexible answer for any red deck, in cube it is a fixture, and on a kitchen table it is the burn spell nearly every player recognizes on sight. The borderless frame makes this version a showpiece in a deck or a binder.
