Item Description

The last three Harry Potter stories are the darkest in the saga, and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 has a wonderful time poking fun at them anyway. Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows unfold in brick form, from the gloomy halls of Grimmauld Place and the Ministry of Magic to the snowy streets of Godric's Hollow, all told through the wordless, pantomimed slapstick that made the early LEGO games so endearing. Watching Death Eaters and Dementors reduced to clattering bricks takes some of the sting out of Voldemort's return.

Play follows the LEGO formula through a wizard's lens. You solve spell-based puzzles, smash and rebuild the scenery, and switch between characters whose talents open different paths, then return in Free Play with your growing roster to reach the secrets you could not touch the first time. Wizard duels test your timing with the right spell at the right moment, and a deep pile of collectibles gives completionists plenty to chase from Hogwarts to the Ministry.

The Vita version adds touch controls on top of familiar button play: tap the screen to cast a spell, swirl a finger to charge it up, or tap a question-mark hint when a puzzle has you stumped. It is a single-player adventure on the handheld, and the music drawn from the films carries real atmosphere into every scene.

The payoff is the whole back half of Harry's story in a light, funny, portable package: Dumbledore's Army training in secret, the battle in the Department of Mysteries, the hunt for Horcruxes and the final stand at Hogwarts. It is the natural sequel to Years 1-4, completing the LEGO retelling of all seven years.
