Item Description

A street racer hits a dirt trail, sails off a cliff and splashes down in a lake as a speedboat without ever lifting off the gas. That seamless transformation is the signature trick of LEGO 2K Drive, a brick-built open-world racer from Visual Concepts, the studio better known for the NBA 2K series, published by 2K in 2023. Every vehicle shifts automatically between street, off-road and water forms depending on the ground beneath it, so a single race can tear through town, across the desert and down a river in one unbroken run.

The story unfolds across Bricklandia, where your mentor Clutch Racington and his robot sidekick S.T.U.D. coach you toward the Sky Trophy and a showdown with the villainous Shadow Z. Each region has its own personality, from the starter town of Turbo Acres to the desert of Big Butte County, gold-rush Prospecto Valley and the Halloween-flavored Hauntsborough, with rival racers and minigames scattered between events. Races are kart-style chaos, full of power-ups, boosts and scenery that bursts into loose bricks when you plow through it.

The garage is where the LEGO spirit really shows. You can build your own vehicles brick by brick and take them straight onto the track, which makes the game feel like a digital extension of a toy bin. Local split-screen lets two players race on the same couch, and quick races and cups make it easy to drop in for a single session.

The Awesome Edition was 2K's premium version of the release at launch. Reviewers enjoyed the charm of the world, its likable characters and the fun of those transformations, and the colorful, slapstick tone makes it an easy racing game to share with younger players on PS5, especially kids who already spend their afternoons building LEGO cars on the living room floor.
