Item Description
Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis turn every one of your end steps into a peace treaty with an edge. At the beginning of your end step you draw a card, then each player may put a land card from their hand onto the battlefield, and every opponent who doesn't draws a card instead. Everyone gets something, nobody feels attacked, and you still come out ahead by drawing first.
That gentle generosity made the rulers of Meletis, the city of learning on Theros, a natural face for group-hug and political Commander decks. Their four colors (red, green, white and blue) open up a huge card pool, the 2/8 body walls off early attackers, and the steady extra land drops help you ramp toward big plays. Add cards that punish opponents for drawing or that reward landfall, and the gifts you hand out quietly become your win condition.
Kynaios and Tiro headlined the Stalwart Unity deck, one of the five four-color decks in Commander 2016. This is the Commander 2016 printing, collector number 36, illustrated by Willian Murai, in foil, with flavor text that captures their vision: "Look what we fought for. Look what we built together."
