Item Description
Kozilek, the Great Distortion refills your hand before it even resolves. Cast the ten-mana Eldrazi titan with fewer than seven cards in hand and you draw until you have seven, so the turn you spend everything to cast it is also the turn you reload. Then a 12/12 with menace arrives, and opponents need at least two blockers just to slow it down.
Its last ability is the reason players fear it. While Kozilek is on the battlefield, you can discard a card with mana value X to counter target spell with mana value X, and since the cast trigger just filled your hand, the right answer is usually waiting. Oath of the Gatewatch brought Kozilek back in this form in 2016 alongside the new colorless mana symbol, and the two colorless pips in its cost make it a centerpiece for Eldrazi and colorless-ramp Commander decks.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 493, illustrated by Chris Rahn, in foil, a striking alternate take on the titan for players who want their Eldrazi deck's centerpiece to stand out.
