Item Description
Knight of the White Orchid is a white player's answer to falling behind on lands. For two white mana you get a 2/2 with first strike, a strong early body on its own, and when it enters, if an opponent controls more lands than you, you may search your library for a Plains card and put it onto the battlefield.
In Commander that condition is almost always true, because some opponent at the table is ramping. White decks often struggle to keep up on mana, and the Knight helps them catch up while holding the ground. It searches for a Plains card rather than a basic Plains, so it can fetch any land with the Plains type, including dual lands and tri-lands that fix your mana even further. It is also a natural fit in Knight tribal decks, where an early first striker leads the charge.
The Knight first appeared in Shards of Alara in 2008. This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 1045, illustrated by Victor Adame Minguez, offered in foil.
