Game only: the cartridge in a protective holder, no box or manual. The photos are of this exact copy — look them over closely for its condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
Most Kirby adventures march you from one stage to the next until the credits roll. Kirby & the Amazing Mirror does something far bolder: it drops the pink hero into a sprawling, interconnected labyrinth and lets him find his own way through. Dark Meta Knight has shattered the Dimension Mirror into eight shards, trapped the real Meta Knight inside it and sliced Kirby into four differently colored copies of himself. What follows is the series' great experiment with Metroid-style exploration, a game built around hidden doors, shortcuts and the satisfaction of finally reaching the room you could see but never touch.
The Mirror World spreads across nine themed areas, all branching out from a hub built around the Dimension Mirror itself, and nearly every area hides a major boss guarding a shard. Copy abilities are the keys to the whole map. Certain obstacles only give way to the right power, so inhaling an enemy becomes a puzzle decision as much as a fighting style, and spotting a secret you can't reach yet is a promise to come back later. The new abilities are a treat: Cupid sends Kirby fluttering on wings while firing arrows, Missile turns him into a steerable projectile, and Smash borrows his moveset straight from Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Then there is the cell phone. With a press of a button, Kirby can call his three computer-controlled counterparts to his side, turning a stubborn boss into a four-Kirby pile-on, and collecting batteries keeps the line open. Link up with friends and the same idea becomes cooperative four-player play, the first time a Kirby game offered it. Between expeditions, the sub-games Speed Eaters, Crackity Hack and Kirby's Wave Ride add quick, competitive diversions that are perfect for passing a Game Boy Advance around.
An unusual team made it: Flagship handled the planning, Dimps the programming, design and sound, and HAL Laboratory the artwork, and that mix gives the game a personality all its own in the series. Critics singled out its hidden pathways as the real challenge, and tracking down every last treasure takes real determination. The road past Dark Meta Knight, with Meta Knight's own Master sword in Kirby's hands for the showdown against the true villain, Dark Mind, is a high point of the pink puffball's handheld history. It plays like no other Kirby game, and that is exactly its appeal.
Once again, Kirby must save the kingdom from evil. But this time he'll need some backup. As Kirby, you can call up one of four alter egos for help during your quest. Each character features new copy abilities that range from arrow-shooting to melee moves. Practice your skills in new side games, such as Crackity Hack and Speed Eaters. In addition to new abilities and subgames, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror also introduces new multiplayer modes.
