Item Description

Kira, Great Glass-Spinner wraps your whole team in an invisible shield. This three-mana 2/2 flier gives every creature you control a protective ward of sorts: the first time each turn that one of them becomes the target of a spell or ability, that spell or ability is countered. Opponents have to spend two removal spells on the same creature in a turn just to get through.

That makes Kira a superb protector for blue creature decks and Voltron builds, and a source of frustration for anyone relying on targeted removal. Smart deckbuilders should note that the shield applies to your own targeting too, so the first Aura or equip on each creature every turn will fizzle unless you plan around it, often by pointing a cheap effect at the creature first. Kira first appeared in Betrayers of Kamigawa, and her flavor text captures the idea perfectly: "The samurai struck the fragile-looking bubble, and her sword shattered into countless pieces."
