Item Description

Few adventure-game revivals have shown as much affection for their source as King's Quest from The Odd Gentlemen. Rather than remaking Sierra's classic adventures, the studio wrapped a new story around them: an elderly King Graham, voiced by Christopher Lloyd, sits with his granddaughter Gwendolyn and tells her about the adventures of his life. Each tale is played out by a younger Graham, voiced by Josh Keaton, and the stories slot neatly into the gaps between the original games. The Complete Collection gathers the whole episodic season in one release.

The chapters trace a lifetime. A Knight to Remember follows young Graham's bid to become a knight of Daventry, beginning with a daring raid on a dragon's lair at the bottom of a well. Rubble Without a Cause traps him underground with the townsfolk as prisoners of goblins, Once Upon a Climb sends him up a tower in search of a queen, Snow Place Like Home has an older Graham reckoning with the years his son Alexander lost as the captive of the wizard Mannannan, and The Good Knight brings the story to its finale, followed by an epilogue that hands the spotlight to Gwendolyn herself. Puzzles change flavor from chapter to chapter, from classic inventory puzzles to ice-sliding challenges and brain teasers, and Graham's choices lean toward bravery, wisdom or compassion, shaping how his legend is told.

What makes the collection so endearing is its tone. The hand-painted, storybook look gives Daventry the feel of an illustrated fairy tale, the script is stuffed with puns, and Gwendolyn's interruptions turn the narration into a warm, funny conversation between generations. Maggie Elizabeth Jones is a delight as Gwendolyn, and Wallace Shawn makes a wonderfully prickly Mannannan. Beneath the jokes sits a story about aging, memory and legacy, and the closing chapter lands with real emotional weight.

Players who grew up on Roberta Williams' series will spot nods to the originals everywhere, from familiar places to old dangers revisited, while newcomers get a gentle, character-driven way into the franchise that helped define the graphic adventure. Having the full season together means you can follow Graham from eager young squire to aging king in one sitting.
