Karador, Ghost Chieftain treats your graveyard like a second hand. Once during each of your turns you may cast a creature spell straight out of your graveyard, and every creature card already sitting there knocks one generic mana off his eight-mana cost. In a deck that mills itself or sacrifices creatures freely, he regularly comes down for as little as three mana.

That once-per-turn recast powers a whole style of Abzan Commander deck: sacrifice a creature with a useful enters-the-battlefield ability, cast it again from the graveyard, and repeat every turn. Self-mill, sacrifice outlets and value creatures all pull double duty. Karador was the face commander of the Graveyard Shift deck in the original 2011 Commander precons, and graveyard recursion has been one of the format's favorite playstyles ever since.

Double Masters 2022 brought him back with his original flavor text intact: "Death tried to uncrown me. But now I return, king of a greater realm." This is the Double Masters 2022 etched foil printing, collector number 514, illustrated by Todd Lockwood, with a metallic etched finish across the card.
